Creekside Breathwork & Vanlife Stillness in Lake Tahoe
May 18, 2025
I’m writing this from a warm patch of sunshine in the forested wilds of Lake Tahoe—7,400 feet up, where Olivia and I have been waking up to crisp alpine air, towering trees, and the steady roar of snow-fed creeks. ๐๏ธ
The mornings? 28° and frosty. โ๏ธ
The air? Chilly enough to make you rethink your life choices and your outfit—which is saying something, because I literally travel with everything I own. ๐
(And yes, I packed all the socks. Wool, thermal, even the funky mushroom-print ones. When the sun hits just right and the van finally warms? Pure freaking bliss. โ๏ธ)
This past week has been a delicious paradox: deep stillness and untamed freedom.
โจ I cozied up in a sweet little cabin tucked in the Tahoe woods, wrapped in the kind of sisterhood that fills your soul from the inside out.
The kind of connection that doesn't require performance or explanation. Just presence.
We hiked to misty waterfalls ๐
E-biked through sunlit ski towns ๐ด๐ผโ๏ธ
Played lakeside fetch with the pups ๐ถ
Shared home-cooked meals, long hot showers, and the kind of soul talks that open new dimensions ๐ฌ
It was connection. It was breath. It was everything my soul was needing.
๐ Vanlife Duality Check
One day, I’m breathing with my feet in the creek and sunlight kissing my face. ๐ง๐ผโ๏ธ The next? I’m questioning my life choices while wondering if the bears around here prefer lavender or coconut oil. ๐ป
Vanlife is a sacred paradox. It holds the awe and the ache.
The freedom and the feelings.
The sacred silence and the unexpected grief.
Every mile keeps opening me to something deeper.
๐พ Olivia’s Wild Woman Era
She’s been soaking in freezing creek pools like it’s her personal spa day—scrubbing off that dusty high-desert Sierra grit and looking absolutely unbothered. ๐ฆ
She and Tilly Rose—her one-year-old Frenchie bestie-slash-chaos companion—have been full-on vibing.
They played chase, stole sticks, and took turns acting like the water floatie was sacred treasure. ๐ฆด
And yep—Olivia dove headfirst into Lake Tahoe like the born swimmer she is. ๐พ
Tail wagging. Eyes shining. Ears flopping. Labrador joy in full effect.
She’s the poster pup for living fully and letting go.
๐ฌ๏ธ Breathwork by the Creek
Before I tell you about the breathwork moment that changed my week, here’s a fun (and slightly wild) fact:
๐ป Lake Tahoe is home to one of the largest black bear populations in the Sierra Nevada. Local estimates say around 300 to 500 bears live in the Tahoe Basin alone. So yes, when I say I had one eye open on that boulder... I meant it.
One morning, I climbed up onto a sun-warmed boulder beside the creek—the kind of rock that feels like it’s been holding ancient stories for a thousand years. ๐ฟ
Blanket across my lap. Sunshine on my cheeks. โ๏ธ
No playlist. No pressure.
Just me, my breath, and the roar of water tumbling over stone.
I let my body settle into the granite beneath me, one eye half-open (because… black bears are a very real vibe up here ๐ณ).
And slowly… something shifted.
The weight of old stories.
Stuck emotions.
Beliefs I didn’t know I was still carrying.
They rose—like mist off the water.
Not dramatic.
Just a soft, quiet loosening.
The kind of medicine I didn’t even know I needed.
